Having developed a fascination with the relationship between consciousness and environment, I seek to use art as a medium to define and articulate human responses. Concentrating in multimedia installation and performance in public and private forums, my work experiments with the transformation and creation of physical settings that aim to engage the audience and instigate reaction within the context of the environment. I approach each new idea with the premise that art should be experiential and that art should encourage and facilitate emotional and physical responses from the audience. I find inspiration from the synonymity between art and life and draw from different approaches to and explanations for the relationship between experience and environment. I hold a particular curiosity in contemporary sciences that define physical and biological processes. Human senses act as a means of reception and information gathering while emotional and spiritual reactions represent a translation and adaptation of that information. I perceive my work as considered material and stimulation for that translation and adaptation process in audiences within a specific space. My work transforms physical spaces in a way that manipulates audience perception and brings attention to how we experience our surroundings. |
